Explanation:  This holiday season, let us celebrate the wonderful tenacity of life around us.

This week's EPOW photo shows a rose bud nearly in bloom that got hit with a sudden ice storm, flash-freezing its beauty and structure into a glazed statue.  Needless to say, this particular rose did not fully bloom after the ice melted, but the plant survived to produce many more flowers the following spring.

So if snow, ice, or just plain cold weather has descended on your location this holiday -- except for you lucky southern hemispherians -- take heart that nature always teaches that the tenacity of life is but a thaw away.

Happy Holidays from EPOW !
