Lunar Halo

All photos taken by and (c) Bruce G. Marcot.

The following three photos are of a lunar halo -- moonlight refracted by thin, high-altitude cirro-stratus clouds consisting
of ice crystals that bend light at 22 degrees, forming a ring or set of rings.

Lunar halos appear pale and colorless, but in the following sequence I have progressively ramped up the color saturation
to illustrate the various rings of subtly different light wavelengths that get refracted.
