The Ephemeral State

Ephemeral Pond

Explanation:  What is this low-lying, muddy patch of green, here in the woodlands of west central Argentina of South America?  Ah, this little scene may have much to teach about this new year.

This is the holding of an ephemeral pond, during summer when it has dried, drained, evaporated.

Its primary aquatic habitat for frogs, fish, and water plants is just plain gone.

And here, today, our Earthly spin has delivered us into the start of yet another year.

So, herald all things ephemeral, as all shall pass.  Enjoy the empty void of memories.  Study the new formations and environments that may manifest from change.

May this simple scene provide multiple ways to bring in ... the New Year.

Happy New Year to all, from Ecology Picture of the Week!
