Belt of Venus

All photos taken by and (c) Bruce G. Marcot.

A beautiful example of the so-called "Belt of Venus" ... as viewed from the Galapagos Islands,
Ecuador (off Esabela Island between Eliz Bay and Urbina Bay).

The "Belt of Venus" is the dark shadow of the Earth seen along the low horizon -- here at dusk.

The "Belt" ... viewed at sunset across the vast salt flat plains of Salar de Atacama, in the Atacama Desert of northern Chile, South America.

The "Belt" can be seen also at pre-dawn ... as shown here on the placid Rapti River in Royal Chitwan National Park, Nepal.
