Inside the Baboon's Head

Explanation:   We know that baboons can be formidable creatures, but mouse over the above image to take a peek behind the curtain.

This is a male olive baboon, found widely in equatorial Africa in grasslands, savannas, and woodlands.  
  



The "dental formula" of baboons is is 2/2, 1/1, 2/2, 3/3 = 32.
This means that they have 2 incisors, 1 canine, 2 premolars, and 3 molars ... on
each side ... and with the same pattern in the upper and lower teeth.
The "32" in the formula refers to the number of total teeth in the mouth. 

By the way, how does this compare to humans?
Well, we have exactly the same dental formula ... but
only before the wisdom teeth are removed.
